Vegas Electric was founded in 1987 by Charles (Vegas) George, an electrical contractor from the United States who came to Roatan that year to install a custom-fabricated generator switchgear for a local seafood processing plant. That first job led into the next project, distribution system wiring and power generation facility for a local supermarket , and so on.
The warm working relationships Vegas rapidly developed with his clients gave rise to his commitment to establish an ongoing business for the people of the Bay Islands he had come to respect so dearly.
Prior to 1992, there was no power grid available on the island, and so Roatan was in serious need of the services of Vegas Electric, as the company came to be known. Now a full-service electrical contracting company and materials provider, Vegas Electric has assumed the leadership role in making the Roatan community, which to this day does not have recognized uniform electrical codes, a better and safer place to live and work.

All of the company's installations meet or exceed the requirements of the US National Electrical Code (NEC) and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC). Additionally, materials used in all installations are approved by UL (Underwriters Laboratories Inc.) and CSA (Canadian Standards Association).
Vegas Electric is proud to be a member of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Our supervisory personnel have been trained in the United States and have extensive experience in the electrical and construction industries. The entire office and supervisory staff is bilingual and fully represents the ethnic diversity of our island. Additionally, Vegas Electric is a one of only a few wholly employee-owned corporations in Honduras.
